Back and Neck Pain

Back and neck pain are common conditions affecting people of all ages. They can result from muscle strain, spinal issues, nerve compression, or poor posture. While many cases are mild and improve with rest, chronic or severe pain may indicate an underlying medical condition requiring treatment. If left untreated, persistent pain can impact daily activities, reduce mobility, and lead to long-term complications. Factors such as stress, a sedentary lifestyle, repetitive movements, or previous injuries can also contribute to discomfort.

Causes of Back and Neck Pain

  • Muscle Strain & Overuse – Poor posture, heavy lifting, or sudden movements can strain muscles.
  • Herniated or Bulging Discs – Spinal discs can press on nerves, causing pain and discomfort.
  • Degenerative Disc Disease – Wear and tear on spinal discs over time can lead to chronic pain.
  • Osteoarthritis & Spondylosis – Age-related joint wear causes stiffness and pain.
  • Spinal Injuries & Trauma – Accidents, falls, or sports injuries may damage bones, muscles, or ligaments.
  • Nerve Compression (Sciatica or Cervical Radiculopathy) – Pinched nerves in the spine can cause radiating pain.

Symptoms of Back and Neck Pain

  • Persistent Pain – Dull, sharp, or burning pain in the neck, upper back, lower back, or shoulders.
  • Stiffness & Reduced Mobility – Difficulty moving the neck or back, especially in the morning or after activity.
  • Radiating Pain – Pain traveling down the arms or legs (e.g., sciatica).
  • Numbness or Tingling – Loss of sensation in the arms, hands, legs, or feet.
  • Headaches & Dizziness – Common with neck pain due to muscle tension or nerve compression.
  • Pain that Worsens with Movement – Certain positions or activities can trigger pain.
